Actor Vijay Raghavendra likes to call himself a subtle actor. And this subtlety is there for all to see in his latest release, 'Toss' which he had signed in 2013.
Calling 'Toss' an experimental film, Vijay says the story traces the life of two friends and what happens when love comes in between friendship.
Vijay points out that the film is not a regular commercial story but one that deals with an offbeat subject.
"The story begins to roll out only after a coin is tossed. The events that follow determine the strength of friendship between two people. The entry of a woman into a man's life makes a huge difference. It could be for the good but sometimes things turn sour as well," explains Vijay.
He says that the film is not meant to be preachy or send out any message of sorts.
"It's a plain, simple story and people have the liberty to interpret it the way they want to. Love and friendship are two sensitive issues. It can either make or mar a relationship," adds Vijay.
Talking about how he got down to signing the script, Vijay says that he was apprehensive when he was offered the project because the team was a new one.
"Earlier, I always had a fear of working with a new team, but now I have overcome that because I find the present set of young filmmakers to be very talented and well-informed. They know exactly what they want to do and how to get it done," adds Vijay.
He says that he is now more than happy to work with new teams and fresh talents.
"Fresh talents come with new perspective and help you look at even the most ordinary things from a different angle," he adds. Vijay is pairing up with actors Ramya Barna and Sandeep Reddy for the first time in this project.
He observes that as an offbeat subject, 'Toss' has done well and hopes that it will click among the audience. The actor also believes that there's no dearth of good scripts. But the sad part is that there are no takers for these.
While Vijay has signed a couple of scripts, he is also getting ready to release his debut directorial project 'Kismat'.
When asked about it, he says "I will be directing and acting in my next project 'Kismat'. This will be my debut as a director. A lot of people ask me why I took so long to do this but I wanted my directorial to be perfect."
