Most commonly associated with a chiselled body, fitness is not just a fad.

As another 'World Fitness Day' dawns, actors across industries point out the importance of physical and mental fitness in these times.

Apart from that, they also confess that they don't believe in going by tried and tested piecemeal formulae and would rather chalk out a holistic diet and exercise regimen that works best for them.

Actor Pooja Chopra says she stays steers clear of aerated beverages and fried food. "I run for about 45 minutes every morning and don't miss a round of walking, swimming and cardio. I don't believe in exercising to look anorexic but focus on working out to stay healthy," she says.

Pooja says that her personal trainer ensures that he adds in quite a few variations into her workout to break the monotony. "I do a mix of cardio and weight loss training but also intersperse it with cycling and badminton. I think it is important to do some kind of physical activity for at least 45 minutes a day," she notes.

In addition to this, she also takes steps to ensure mental health. "It is important not to get stressed because this can also affect one's well-being. A balanced diet and good sleep go a long way in ensuring a sound mind," adds Pooja.

Swedish-Greek actor Elli Avram says that in addition to her workout sessions and singing and dance classes, she's also learning martial arts."This not only keeps me super fit but has made me a more confident person. I don't stick to the tried and tested methods of gymming but work on what is best for me," says Elli.

Bollywood actor Sara Arfeen Khan opines that more than the workouts, it is the diet that plays an important role in fitness. "I don't believe in skipping meals or starving myself to get into shape. I eat every two to three hours and make sure that I do some kind of physical activity so that my metabolism remains high," says Sara.

Sandalwood too has its share of actors who customise workout options. Actor Yash says he tweaks his workout according to the looks that he is sporting in projects.

"If I am required to sport a chiseled body, then I work towards getting a six pack but I wouldn't workout the same way on a daily basis. I don't believe that you have to burn those extra calories to look attractive. You can have a small bellyand still look good," he reasons.

Staying fit is also about being healthy, adds Yash. "Some people look fit but they are prone to all kinds of illnesses. The focus should be on being healthy in mind, body and soul," says Yash.
