Bonsouth in Koramangala is offering a lavish spread for Onam from September 13 to 15. The restaurant will have an elaborate onam buffet comprising more than 55 dishes prepared by chef Manu Nair and his team.
The idea is not only to offer the authentic Onam buffet spread but also to dish out something that is unique.
The starters will include 'Pazham Puri', 'Unni Appam' and 'Parippu vada.' The main course will include signature dishes
of Onam such as 'Olan', 'Kalan', 'Pumpkin Erissery', 'Avial', red rice, 'Appam', 'Podi Dosa'and 'Malabari Parathas'. However, the icing on the cake is the dessert spread which includes 'Parippu payasam', 'Paal ada pradaman', the mouth-watering steamed Kerala bananas glazed with honey and 'Elaneer Payasam.'
Talking about the logic behind including a few extra dishes in the Onam buffet, Manu says "Bonsouth is an mix of the five different cuisines — Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Srilanka. Thus the menu for Onam will include the traditional onam buffet along with the best-loved dishes from these states."
He says that in addition to the buffet, there will also be a surprise 'onam star dish' every day. "Apart from the buffet and a few special dishes, there will also be interactive live counters to enrich the experience," adds Manu.
The beverage section will include 'Sambharam' (special Kerala spiced buttermilk) and hot pepper 'Rasam'.
Manu explains that the menu has been crafted after a lot of thought to make sure the Onam buffet experience is not only different but something that people will look forward to.
"The idea is not only to offer the traditional feast but also add a few dishes, giving that little twist to the whole affair," he says.
