A toast to the brew

The member countries of the International Coffee Organisation have declared October 1 as International Coffee Day and it is an occasion to promote and celebrate the beverage with events across the world.

Coffee Board of India being a member is celebrating the second International Coffee
Day at its Bengaluru headquarters.

To commemorate this day, it has been decided to organise 'Caffest' in partnership with coffee growers, industry stakeholders and consumers.

'Caffest' would provide a platform to showcase the best of Indian coffee and an interesting programme has been planned for the day.

Young coffee entrepreneurs and SHGs will showcase their products during the event, besides a brewing demonstration which is being organised for the benefit of the public to educate them on the positive aspects of drinking coffee.

On the occasion, a street play and a skit on the theme 'coffee' will be enacted by a well-known TV/stage artiste from Prathibha Art Foundation, Bengaluru, in two sessions — 11 am and 4 pm.

A poster designing competition is also being organised and entries are invited from two age groups, between 10 and 15 years and above 16 years. The three best entries will be awarded cash prizes.

The last date for the submission of entries is September 26.The programme, being held from 9.30 am to 6 pm at the Coffee Board Head Office, Ambedkar Veedhi, is
open to everyone.
