Producer-turned-actor Siddharth Mahesh always wanted to get involved in every aspect of filmmaking. He first ventured into production with 'Lucia' and has now donned the grease paint for 'Sipaayi.'
Conceding that acting and getting under the skin of the character is an art in itself, Siddharth says he now has a clear idea of what comprises acting and that not everybody can become an actor. He plays the role of a television journalist in the film. He has managed to find an explosive story but can't put it out because of a threat to his life. "The film is an action-thriller which shows how difficult it is for a reporter to bring out an exclusive story that involves the powers that be. The reporter goes through a series of hardships to bring out the story," explains Siddharth.
The actor has done well to not only portray the life of a reporter but has also had a chance to showcase his skills in martial arts. "I've undergone training in karate and this film has a lot of action sequences which I have been able to emote effortlessly because of my training in martial arts," he adds.
Siddharth watched the first day, first show in the theatres and is overwhelmed by the response. "I was very anxious to know how the audience would react to the film. Contrary to what I thought, the film has been running successfully and we have had people appreciating the way it has has been made and how every character in the story has a definite purpose," adds Siddharth.
The film also has actor Sruthi Hariharan playing a substantial role. 'Sipaayi' is a film that Sruthi signed soon after 'Lucia' and is glad that it is finally released. "While the term 'Sipaayi' is commonly used to refer to a solider, here it is used to describe the struggle of a press reporter to bring out a story," she says. She plays the love interest of Siddharth and says she thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the project.
